    Bronze-Level Designation Renewed

The City of Richardson announced on January 31, 2025 that the League of American Bicyclists had renewed Richardson’s status as a Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community. The award recognizes Richardson for its commitment to creating transportation and recreational resources that benefit its residents of all ages and abilities while encouraging healthier and more sustainable transportation choices. Richardson was the first city in North Texas to be named a Bicycle Friendly Community in 2015, when it received bronze certification, and that status was renewed in 2019 and again this week. Congrats to the City and cycling community!

    Remember Mitchell Marvin

Mitchell Marvin, born on December 13, 1990, became a resident of Richardson in June 2016. Mitchell was a bike commuter who regularly biked from his home near Greenville & Campbell to his job at O’Reilly Auto Parts on Avenue K in Plano. On March 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., the Richardson Police Department responded to a crash in the 2500 block of N. Plano Rd. The driver of a SUV was traveling northbound in the center lane of N. Plano Rd. and made a lane change to the right lane where Mitchell, on his bike, was also traveling northbound. Moments after making the lane change, the driver struck Mitchell from behind. Mitchell passed away from his injuries at the crash scene. He was 32 years old.
